Over the past several years, the advancement in bellina and violacea breeding has been extraordinary in great part thanks to the efforts of H. P. and Katherine Norton in South Carolina. H. P. has taken on the difficult task of breeding for intensely blue and red colored violaceas and fuller formed bellinas despite the fact that very little seed is produced.
Pine Ridge Orchids has beeh growing flasks of these crosses for several years now, and we finally have some bloomed and unbloomed hybrid seedling available for sale - seedling hybrids grow slowly. Some of the photos above are from H. P. and are shown to depict the trends that H. P. has been striving for.
The plants we have for sale are $100 - $150 for the violacea seedlings that have bloomed out blue/indigo since it is so difficult to acheive this color. Unbloomed seedlings are $75.00 - $100 or $150 if in spike..
I also have seedlings priced from $35 - $75 each forthe Phal. violacea and Phal. Samera that are excellent quality but did not bloom out blue or indigo.
I will post photos of some of the seedlings as they bloom out.
The bellina / violacea flowers are wonderfully fragrant also!
