The bamboo we grow are all tropical to sub-tropical clumping bamboo. I have found that the types of bamboo I have been growing are extremely resistant to any hurricane wind damage. The plants are all grown directly in the ground -- we do not offer any containerized plant material.
Bambusa chungii has culms covered in white powder and likes moisture. The plant will grow to approximately 30' in height with 2" - 2.5" diameter culms. It is hardy to about 25 degrees F.
Bambusa lako produces beautiful smooth chocolate brown or mahogany culms about 3" - 4" in diameter and will grow to about 50' - 65' with very straight erect clumps. It is hardy to about 26 degrees F.
Dendrocalamus asper and the much rarer black form 'Hitam Betung' are both excellent edible bamboo. They will grow to 100' in height with 12" diameter culms. They are hardy to about 26 degrees F. The 'Hitam Betung' is a true collector's bamboo.
Dendrocalamus minor 'Amoenus' is covered with a white bloom on the 2" culms. It will grow to about 30' in tight clumps exhibiting slightly pendulus tops. It is also hardy to about 25 degrees F.
